Day Centre Frequently Asked Questions

Assessments are made prior to places being offered at both facilities to ensure people receive the right level of care. Support Plans are utilised routinely and updated regularly.

  • Cost of Day Centre

    Charnley Fold (Enhanced) day centre,
    Bamber Bridge,
    £62 per day

    Withy Trees day centre (Mainstream)
    Fulwood Preston,
    £44 per day.

  • Lunch and Refreshments

£6.00 per day which includes tea/coffee and toast on arrival, a hot lunch and dessert (around 1pm) drinks, snacks and refreshments throughout the day.

  • How do I pay?

Our payments run in line with the Lancashire County Council 4 weekly schedule (not calendar monthly). Some individuals are local authority funded and day support claims this directly from the provider.

Privately funded service users will receive an invoice from Age Concern Central Lancashire to the preferred home or email address for invoiced costs within the billing period.

Once the invoice is received, payment methods are specified. i.e Cheques, Bank transfer.

Pre-payment card holders will need to call the telephone number on the invoice to pay over the telephone.

  • Medications

It is very important that if we are asked to administer prescribed medication to a service user, we need to have the blister pack (unbroken) so that we know exactly which drug is being administered. It would also be helpful to have the original box with the prescription label on it identifying the service user.

  • Transport

We have currently halted our community transport due to the restrictions imposed by Covid. The preferred method at this time is for families/carers to drop off and pick up service users or arrange taxi’s on their behalf.

  • Activities

Both of our day centres have trained staff who are able to facilitate suitable activities for a range of ability levels whilst catering to individual interests and preferences.

Our activities run over a 12 week programme monitored and recorded by staff. Examples of activities may include: Baking, music, arts, gardening, woodwork, seasonal activities, quiz games, reminiscence, and reading.

  • Family and Carer Support

Age Concern recognises the vital role that family and carers provide in supporting people with dementia and memory concerns to navigate the ‘system’ and to get the help needed.
