Age Concern

Age Concern Central Lancashire Dementia Workshop

The global impact of dementia is huge and cannot be ignored*.

• One person every three seconds is diagnosed
• By 2050 it is projected that 131 million people globally will have a condition such as Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia or frontotemporal dementia
• The total estimated global cost of dementia is projected to be $2 trillion by 2030
• If dementia care were a country, it would be the 18th largest economy in the world exceeding the market values of companies such as Apple and Google

More locally; dementia prevalence figures suggest there are 15,459 people living with dementia in Lancashire and this is projected to increase to 21,472 by 2025, yet too many people affected by dementia feel that society fails to understand the conditions they live with. This interactive and informative dementia workshop will help to raise awareness and understanding, so that people living with dementia may be understood and that care and support can be improved.

Age Concern Central Lancashire is therefore committed to improving awareness and the quality of training regarding dementia in order to accelerate understanding, enhance standards and ultimately enrich the quality of life of those affected.

Learn more about dementia from Lancashire’s multi-award winning older peoples charity and turn that understanding into action!
